Privacy Policy
Last updated July 11, 2026
RangeNote (“we”, “us”) is a voice-first task manager. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what the app needs to work.
Information we collect
- Account: your email address, used for sign-in via a one-time code.
- Your content: the tasks and spaces you create, and any photos or videos you attach.
- Voice: when you record a note, the audio is sent for transcription and then the text is processed into tasks. We do not retain the raw audio after transcription.
- Photo scan (Pro): when you scan a photo of a note or document, the image is sent to Anthropic to read the text it contains. We keep only the extracted text — the photo itself is not stored. (This is separate from photos or videos you deliberately attach to a task, which are stored.)
- Usage: minimal technical logs (e.g. rate-limit counts, error logs) to keep the service reliable and prevent abuse.
- Billing: if you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details and returns to us only limited information — such as your subscription status, plan, renewal date, and your card’s brand and last four digits. We never see or store your full card number.
If you use the app without an account (guest trial), your trial notes are stored only on your device until you choose to sign up.
How we use it
To transcribe your voice notes, organize them into tasks, sync them across your devices, send you sign-in codes and email you exports you request, process your subscription and payments, send our optional newsletter and product updates if you’ve opted in, and to operate, secure, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to train our own models.
Service providers (sub-processors)
We share data with these providers only to deliver the features above:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- OpenAI — speech-to-text transcription of voice notes.
- Anthropic — turning your note text into structured tasks, and reading the text in photos you scan (Pro). Scanned photos are not stored.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.
- Resend — sending sign-in codes, the lists you choose to email, and the newsletter.
- Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
These providers process data under their own terms and act as our processors. We send them only what their feature requires.
Storage, security & retention
Data is encrypted in transit. Your tasks, spaces, and attachments are isolated per user with database row-level security, and uploaded files are kept in a private bucket scoped to your account. We keep your content until you delete it or delete your account.
Your choices & rights
- Access / export: download your tasks and spaces from Account → Export my data.
- Delete: permanently remove your account and all associated data from Account → Delete account.
- Sessions: sign out of all devices at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability). Email us to exercise them.
Email & the newsletter
We send service emails you can’t opt out of while you have an account (for example, sign-in codes and billing notices). We may also send an optional newsletter — a periodic recap of your activity plus tips on notes, tasks, and follow-through — and occasional product updates. Marketing emails are opt-in where required and every one has a one-click unsubscribe; you can also manage email preferences in your Account settings. If the newsletter ever carries a clearly labeled sponsor, we don’t share your personal information with that sponsor.
Children
RangeNote isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; we’ll revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
